From countercorp-news at countercorp.org Wed Apr 23 18:24:55 2008 From: countercorp-news at countercorp.org (CounterCorp News and Events List) Date: Wed, 23 Apr 2008 15:24:55 -0700 Subject: [CounterCorp] UPDATE: Website, May event, Festival, and more Message-ID: Dear CounterCorp supporter, It's been a while since we last communicated with you, but work continues apace here at CounterCorp headquarters. Here's the latest news on what we're doing: 1) COUNTERCORP WEBSITE 2.0: We're really close to announcing the launch of the revised CounterCorp website, courtesy of web guru Dennis Williams. The "beta" version of the site is up and running, and we are making last minute fixes and changes before it goes live. We are seeking some so-called "beta testers" to be the first to see and use the site, and find any bugs that need to be squashed before the site goes live to the public. If you are interested in getting a first look at the site -- and getting reduced-price tickets to the next CounterCorp event based on the number of bugs you report -- please contact our web team at webmaster at countercorp.org. 2) MAY (OR MAY NOT) EVENT: We are talking with several film makers/ distributors about a possible screening in late May. Nothing has been agreed yet, but we are hoping to hold some sort of public event in about a month, so stay tuned for more details on that. 3) TIPPING MAN 3: The 3rd annual CounterCorp Anti-Corporate Film Festival is in its early planning stages, and we hope to be able to announce the tentative dates and venue soon -- most likely to coincide with the launch of the website. So the sooner we can get the new website up and running (with your help), the sooner we can announce this year's Festival. 4) SF FILM FESTIVAL: CounterCorp has been invited to serve as a community partner for this year's San Francisco International Film Festival (SFIFF), which runs from April 24-May 8. The 51st SFIFF (http://fest08.sffs.org) will screen over 100 unique programs of the finest in international cinema, with thousands of film-lovers and filmmakers in attendance. The festival celebrates international cinema, spotlights local film culture (such as CounterCorp, showcases advances in film technology, educates Bay Area youth -- and throws some great parties. In short, along with the CounterCorp Festival, it?s the best two weeks of the film year. For tickets and information visit the festival website at http://fest08.sffs.org or call (925) 866-9559. Thanks as always for your support -- we couldn't do any of this without you!
